Business Edge has announced a major programme of expansion of its training facilities and the development of new technology.

Already completed is a major investment programme to expand its engineering training workshops and related facilities in its training facilities at Portsmouth, Tiverton and Milton Keynes to cater for increased demand under the F gas certification scheme.

The practical workshop of the main training centre in Portsmouth has almost doubled in size. The workshops have been equipped with a variety of training and assessment rigs encompassing direct-expansion refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, as well as a packaged water chiller.

The assessment centre is equipped with the latest refrigerant-recovery units, specialised pressure-test equipment, vacuum pumps, electronic, ultrasonic and UK leak detectors, calibrated leaks, electronic and analogue gauge and manifolds to streamline the procedure for training and assessing candidates required under the new F gas system.

The wraps are still on the details of the R&D facility, but managing director Mike Creamer says, ‘It is one of the most exciting and potentially transformational projects I have ever been involved with.’
