Eaton-Williams brings free-cooling benefits to data centre
Energy-efficient cooling for a new data centre for the operator of London City Airport is provided by equipment from Eaton-Williams.
Energy-efficient cooling for a prefabricated data centre for London City Airport designed and built by Red Vista is provided by equipment from Eaton-Williams. The centre weighs over 8 t and is on a site close to the Docklands Light Railway. With the co-operation of the DLR, it was craned into position over the tracks and into position as a complete package.
The cooling package comprises four CTX20e (3+1 redundancy) externally mounted close-control units, each with a sensible cooling duty of 20 kW. They serve a hot/cold-aisle installation.
Free cooling can be provided using fresh air whenever the external ambient permits — about 65% of the year — to achieve substantial cost savings.
