Douglas Delabie helps student accommodation save water

Douglas Delabie, plumbing, water saving

Douglas Delabie water-saving products for shower rooms are being installed as part of a 3-phase project for new student accommodation at Oxford Brookes University. Plumbing contractor Off Site Solutions installed Advance Elite shower valves and kit units and Tempostop self-closing taps with integral flow regulators into shower-room pods that could be dropped in on site.

Bob Purdom, commercial director with Douglas Delabie, says, ‘Our products were selected for their durability, easy installation and low maintenance. Water savings were a significant consideration for this project too because of the large number of end users and potentially high water wastage through conventional showers and taps.’

For example, the regulated water flow of the Advance Elite thermostatic shower mixing valves has been reduced from 10 l/min to 9 l/min, qualifying it for the Water Technology List. The flow rate from the Tempostop basin tap is now preset to just 4 l/min.

Each phase of the project will require about 176 showers and 352 taps.
