Kimpton enjoys continuing success in solar thermal

Kimpton, solar thermal
Kimpton Renewable Energy Systems has recently completed two solar thermal schemes for children’s centres in Yorkshire.

Renewable energy for two new children’s’ centres in Yorkshire is provided by solar-thermal systems to generate domestic hot water. They were installed by Kimpton Renewable Energy Systems on centres in the grounds of Trinity & All Saints School in Bingley and Sandals School in Baildon.

Paul Dyson of Kimpton explains, ‘Our brief was to provide heating for each of the new children’s centres with a combination of a gas-fired boiler and underfloor heating. Each of the schemes has twin solar collectors on the roof which provide energy for the buildings’ hot-water systems and, thanks to the integration of this system with the boiler, this can be topped up by energy from the boiler on an as-needed basis.’

Kimpton has completed nine similar schemes over the past five years. Managing director Richard Kimpton says, ‘The education sector demands that contractors complete to programme to allow buildings to open in time for the school terms. Our success in this sector not only reflects an increasing use of renewables in education buildings but also demonstrates our ability to deliver on time and to budget.’
