High-temperature heat pump can replace oil-fired boilers

ICS Heat Pump Technology

ICS Heat Pump Technology now offers a 100 kW air-source heat-pump package that can deliver 65°C output temperatures without supplementary heating, even in ambient temperatures as low as -12°C. Such an output temperature enables existing boilers to be replaced with minimal work being required on the existing radiator system.

The HPT Mod-Pack will arrive on site fully packaged and ready to run. The package also includes built-in buffer tanks for heating and sanitary hot water, enabling simple and practical integration to the existing system in a building.

These packages are claimed to reduce carbon emissions by over 40% compared to a oil-fired boiler.

Gary Broadbent of ICS, says, ‘The retrofit market has to be approached on a practical level. One of the obvious areas to explore with regard to achieving significant carbon and cost reductions are existing buildings with high-carbon fossil-fuel heating or hot-water boilers. These existing buildings need a realistic and simple-to-specify replacement heating solution that does not involve a large amount of remedial work on the radiator system. High-temperature heat pumps can now provide options to the building operator or specifier.
