The time-saving benefits of bespoke AHUs

By supplying four bespoke packaged rooftop air-handling units to match the footprints of the plant they replaced, Weatherite contributed to the installation of new air-conditioning equipment at Havering magistrates’ court in London being achieved two weeks ahead of schedule. The work was part of a major refurbishment, including a complete reroofing, that had to be completed without disrupting court business. John McLeod, project manager with consultants Babcock of Reading, explains that the bespoke design enabled existing equipment to be retained — including ductwork, gas and water pipes and electrical cabling. ‘At the same time,’ says John McLeod, ‘control and access for maintenance was improved by incorporated the duct-mounted plant items in self-contained units.’
