Fan-coil units achieve very low specific fan power

Advanced Air, fan coil units

Advanced Air’s EPIC range of fan-coil units can achieve a specific fan power as low as 0.15 W/l/s, which is claimed to make them the most efficient in the European market. When installed into a building designed to meet or exceed the 2010 Building Regulations, the saving in carbon emissions can, in most cases, exceed 15% of the total carbon emissions of the whole building.

The single horizontally mounted fan is driven by an ECDC motor with a smaller price premium than fan-coil units with AC motors.

A 250 W single fan deck means that the fan is self commissioning, as any change in external resistance is recognised by the smart controller, and the fan automatically compensates to achieve its set point.

Feedback from the motor can be used by the BMS to indicate dirty filters and be programmed to suit varying room loads.

Stepless speed control enables these units to serve as VAV fan-coil units.
