High-speed chiller replacement

York
The York and Emcor team on the site of BAE Systems at Farnborough celebrate the completion of the crane life that was a key part of a 14-day replacement programme for a roof-top chiller.
Just 14 days from placing an order for a York Sonata high-efficiency air-cooled chiller for BAE Systems in Farnborough to final connection has been achieved by York. The project was carried out for Emcor Facilities Services, which had worked with York on many previous projects involving the retrofit design, installation and replacement of air-conditioning equipment. The 3-storey Warwick House building provides office space for 300 people and was suffering from poor air quality during to increasingly erratic operation of the chiller. It had been installed for over 10 years and inadequately maintained by previous occupants. Urgent replacement was needed to maintain comfort. York replaced the roof-top machine with a chiller it had in stock. York arranged for a crane lift, which took six hours over a weekend to avoid disruption. The electrical supply was connected and reconnected during normal weekday hours, as was the installation of prefabricated pipework.
