Protection against burst pipes and wasted water

Savings in water costs and protection against damage caused by burst pipes is provided by a system from Waterguard Services. Wayne Strachan, a director of the company, says, ‘A fractured 15 mm pipe can deliver a huge volume of water in just a few minutes, but bursts often go un-noticed for hours or even days.

The Waterguard system can be attached to water pipes of all sizes and shuts off the water supply if the flow exceeds a programmed time period.

An indication of water savings is provided by the experience of a council that installed the system in schools, leisure centres and office — and achieved a £300 000 reduction in water bills.
