Huge solar PV project tracks the Sun

The world’s largest tracking solar plant using Sanyo’s high-efficiency high-output HIT solar PV modules is now operating at Torre Santa Susanna in southeast Italy. The site comprises 32 202 solar modules fitted to solar trackers to maximise power generation. It has an output capability of 7.6 MW and is one of the largest tracking solar plants in Europe.

The project was originally started by a consortium lead by Deutsche Bank’s asset finance and leasing renewable-energy division. Construction started in December 2010, and the site was connected to the grid in April 2011.
