LED lighting halves energy consumption

Megaman UK, lighting, Green Deal, Golden Rule
LED lighting from Megaman has halved energy use at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

Energy savings of 50% and a better visual environment at Birmingham Women’s Hospital have been achieved with the help of Plateia LED luminaires from Megaman UK replacing traditional grid-based recessed fluorescent luminaires. Plateia luminaires were selected following an assessment by a local electrical wholesaler.

The new luminaires uses a very bright LED light source and fit into a standard 600 mm-square ceiling grid. The luminaires are suitable for use with daylight and occupancy detectors and offer low-glare flicker-free operation.

Following their installation, head of estates Warren Hubbard commented, ‘We have just refurbished the main circulation routes and outpatient areas with Megaman’s Plateia system, and this produced energy savings of 50%. We are looking at replacing other areas as the new lighting offers a much lighter and brighter environment which has been very well received by staff and patients alike.’
