Cool Designs develops versatile control system

Cool Designs, which distributes the Toshiba range of air-conditioning and heat-pump systems, has developed a controller that can be used with Toshiba’s full commercial range of splits, heat pumps and VRF systems. The controller optimises indoor comfort for individual rooms in a building and reduces energy use.

Called Oasis, the controller is based on an advanced algorithm that takes into account outdoor conditions to minimise system running time while delivering steady comfort conditions.

Oasis also takes care of fire and frost protection. It also has the capability to monitor and record power so that the data can be used as part of a building- or estate-wide energy-management programme.

The capabilities of Oasis also include the control and optimisation of lighting by linking to a network of presence sensors across a building.

The system’s supervisory function records fault conditions and alarms, sending an e-mail or text message to the building engineering and/or contractor with a fault code and description.

The system can be accessed via a number of interfaces — including an on-site touchscreen, and smart phone or standard web browser for remote access.

Set-up and commissioning is carried out by Cool Designs, working alongside the control designer, to ensure correct application and system integration.

Oasis has been developed by Cool Designs and is available only through the company.
