Connected lighting on a single platform

Beckhoff Automation’s CX-series controller provides a flexible and simple-to-use platform that enables building owners to reduce energy costs. Embedded PC technology allows for scalable solutions — from standalone single-application devices through to multi-core devices capable of full building control, including vast data processing and reporting in real time.

A recent installation for the Gatwick Estate achieved an integrated lighting-control solution that ensured that existing lighting technology would not have to be replaced in its entirety.

The Beckhoff system can integrate existing networks and equipment onto a single platform and enabled the Gatwick engineering team to monitor their systems and implement changes where necessary. The solution used the existing DALI and DSI network infrastructure to provide real-time control and monitoring of the connected lighting.

Following the installation, the BMS can monitor energy usage directly at the control panels or provide virtual metering when needed. Lux-level monitoring and adjustable scenes can all be designed, deployed and changed when required.
