Frese brings new control to HIUs

Frese, HIU, heat interface unit, heat networks, district heating, space heating

Frese’s Aquaheat range of HIUs are electronically controlled and feature a programmable Modbus and OpenTherm controller for remote monitoring and control, self learning and fast-acting PICVs, and an advanced anti-legionella capability for safe and energy-efficient protection.

It has previously been a challenge for control valves with conventional electro-mechanical actuators to match the speed and precision of self-acting thermostatic control valves which is necessary for the safe tapping of domestic hot water. However, the development of fast-acting stepper motors and controls for conventional and pressure-independent control valves in an HIU enable fast and precise instantaneous hot-water production.
