New AHU slashes leisure centre energy costs

Dantherm, AHU, air handling unit, Hotels, leisure

Gas consumption has been reduced by over 60% following the installation of a Dantherm air-handling unit at David Lloyd Leisure in Bristol after an old ventilation system in the swimming-pool hall began to run ineffectively. The DanX XKS system has a highly efficient crossflow heat exchanger to help control humidity and indoor temperature efficiently.

Not only has energy consumption been reduced, but pool conditions have also been improved and the building structure protected from dampness.

The project was financed by Decarbon, an independent investment manager specialising in energy- and resource-efficiency initiatives, so there was no upfront cost to David Lloyd Leisure. The facility was kept open while the work was carried out.
