LG Artcool units heat and cool home refurbishment

LG, air conditioning

LG multi-split air conditioning provides the primary heating source as well as cooling in the warmer months of the year for the imaginative refurbishment of a Victorian detached home in the south of England close to the M25. Other features of the refurbishment include triple-glazed windows, condensing-boiler back-up heating system, underfloor heating downstairs and high levels of insulation. There are also solar panels on the south-facing roof.

The project is a joint venture between LG, air-conditioning specialist M3R Climate and air-conditioning contractor KV Cooling.

Artcool Gallery units (pictured) deliver heating and cooling and use less energy than a boiler. The units are remotely controlled and provide a very rapid response.

There are two wall-mounted outdoor units each of which serves two Artcool units, two in the lounge and two in upstairs bedrooms.

Andrew Slater, LG’s technical and research senior manager, says, ‘There is a growing awareness of the flexibility of our equipment and a willingness by many customers to see what we sell as air-conditioning equipment as a heating system that has the capability to provide comfort cooling in the summer months. It’s just a case of interpretation.’
