Newly promoted Plymouth Argyle enjoys improved DHW system

Vokera, DHW, Boilers, space heating

Not only did the improvement in the performance of Plymouth Argyle Football Club last season lead to promotion to Football League Division One, but the performance of the heating and hot-water system has also been boosted with equipment from Vokera.

The shower facilities at the club’s Home Park ground were most in need of improvement. The existing 300 l electric hot-water system did not have the capability to supply both home and away sides with sufficient hot water after a game. With League rules dictating that the away side much have first use of hot water, Plymouth’s players were frequently left with the choice of a cold shower or using the facilities of the Leisure Centre opposite the ground.

Vokera supplied a gas-fired system boiler and two 300 l twin-coil unvented cylinders, which were chosen for their ability to use both coils for faster reheat. The limited plant-room space was overcome by the compact boiler and a flexible twin-flue solution.

Vokera also renovated the heating in the club’s boardroom and bar, and an additional boiler delivers heating and hot water for these spaces.

In the hospitality suite, a third boiler serves the kitchen, bars and central plant of the stadium.
