Heat pumps for Ribble Valley homes

Developer Chipping Homes has specified air source heat pumps from NIBE for its attractive Fellside development in the picturesque village of Chipping in the Ribble Valley, which comprises 39 family homes.

The NIBE heat pumps will provide heating and hot water to the project, which consists of thirty-two, three to five bedroom homes. The heat pumps have a discreet appearance and offer low noise levels, where the collector unit will be installed in the majority of cases, externally to the garage.

The remaining seven properties are smaller bungalows built for the local over 55s community, and these are being fitted with NIBE F730 Exhaust Air Heat Pump systems, which offer ventilation, alongside heating and hot water. The homes have high levels of insulation to the cavity wall and loft, to optimise thermal performance. They are built with UPVC double-glazed windows and French doors and a number of the properties at Fellside also come with electric car charging points.

Chipping Homes chose NIBE, as it is a well-established company that dates back to the 1950s in Sweden and has been operating in the UK since 2006. On their choice of heat pumps, director of Chipping Homes, Ken Whitaker, explains: “The rural location of this site, which is in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meant that designing a heating system to meet the demand of modern homebuyers was a challenge. The NIBE heat pump system offered a good balance of proven technology and consumer-friendly interface. The use of heat pumps meant no unsightly on-site gas storage tanks or the need to provide access for tank refilling or maintenance, which also helped with the site layout.”

The systems are being supplied with NIBE Uplink to create a Smart Home system. This means they can control their heating system remotely via an app on their smart phones or tablet and monitor its performance. The NIBE system comes with a seven-year warranty.
