Tour & Andersson liberates the benefits of centralised commissioning

Centralised commissioning and balancing of up to eight terminal devices can be achieved from Tour & Andersson’s TA-HUB.
Tour & Andersson has introduced a product that is said to have the capability of reducing installation time by at least 20% and commissioning time by over 50%. Called TA-HUB (to imply hydronic user-friendly balancing) the concept also significantly reduces the time required for the maintenance of hydronic system by bringing together control valves for a number of terminal devices to a single location. TA-HUB modules are individually made for each application and can cater for up to eight terminal units. A module includes drain point, air vent, common measuring point and a flushing bypass. All parts are delivered pre-assembled and tested. Recognising that changes on site are almost inevitable, it is possible to change a valve in just a couple of minutes using only a pair of pliers. Tour & Andersson has also devised software, TA Select 3, to enable specifiers to choose the right valves for a module by inputting the flow and nature of the valve function required and choosing from a selection of valves presented. The accessibility of valves enables commissioning to be scheduled with much more certainty, reducing the pressure of handover deadline and potential bottlenecks in the process. What were once variable costs for the contractor are now fixed. Peter Rees, technical director with Tour & Andersson, says, ‘The TA-HUB is knowledge in a box. Compiling the technology of balancing a waterborne system into one easily locatable unit, the entire system can be more effectively and efficiently managed.’
