Brighter outlook for school in Norfolk

Lots of daylight introduced into the staff room at a school in Norfolk by two Solatubes has transformed this previously dreary space in a bright and attractive environment.

A windowless staff room in a Victorian school building has been transformed into a bright and attractive environment following the installation of two Solatube daylighting systems to replace flexible tubes that had been installed even though Solatube had been specified. The two Solatubes ‘pipe’ daylight from domes on the roof of Brooke VC Primary School near Norwich into the space below. Each of the 350 mm-diameter tubes can illuminate up to 22 m2 of floor area and significantly reduce the need for artificial light during the day. The Solatubes are topped by a Raybender 3000 dome with Fresnel lenses to direct the maximum amount of light down the tube. The interior of the tube loses only 0.3% of the light on each
