Monitoring lifts using a web browser reduces costs

A lift-monitoring system developed by LiftStore enables the lifts in a building to be monitored using a standard web browser.
Liftstore’s CMS Anywhere software monitors the performance of lifts in a building and provides alerts to potential problems and breakdowns. Accurate and real-time lift monitoring is achieved by providing all CMS information via a web browser that is accessible by authorised personnel from anywhere in the world. There is no need for extra hardware on the operator’s desk, and associated maintenance and support costs are avoided. The only installation requirement is an interface unit for each lift. This unit relays movement and performance information to a password-protected site, with all information easily viewed using a web browser. CMS Anywhere allows for remote testing of lifts. It also provides raw data for the regular reports that are required and can offer a customised reporting service where specific and more complex conditions must be met. Richard Young, managing director of LiftStore, tells us, ‘One of our local-authority clients has achieved savings in operating costs of £1200 per lift per year because of improved maintenance management. In particular, they are able to verify whether or not a lift is faulty prior to calling out a maintenance team.’
