Hamworthy moves into biomass boilers

Hamworthy
A complete design and support service for biomass boilers is offered by Hamworthy Heating and Rural Energy.
Hamworthy Heating has joined forces with Rural Energy to offer a comprehensive and practical solution to using biomass boilers. Mike Shaw, sales and marketing director at Hamworthy, explains, ‘Producing heat from burning renewable fuels is quite different from installing a gas boiler or water heater and requires a change of approach to projects. ‘To achieve optimum results with a biomass-boiler, the process needs to cover additional factors, which include the design and location of fuel-storage facilities, choice of fuel (wood chip or pellet), fuel-handling systems and a reliable source of good-quality fuel — plus the integration with the gas boilers which may be used to satisfy a proportion of the load. All the issues need to be carefully identified and the options worked through to give a practical solution that will meet the project requirements. ‘To ensure that Hamworthy’s biomass boiler offering provides a comprehensive and practical solution to using biomass boilers, we have joined forces with Rural Energy, a leading UK specialist in biomass technology with more than seven years’ experience of design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.’ Using the latest in biomass boiler design from Herz in Austria, the Hamworthy package comes complete with full product and design support at all stages of the project and includes advice on fuel selection, supply, handling and storage. Boilers are available with outputs from 50 to 500 kW, and multiple configurations are also available.
