Wind energy supports RDM headquarters

Up to 30 kW of electricity can be generated by these two wind turbines at RDM’s headquarters in Glasgow.

Control and monitoring company RDM has installed two 20 m-high wind turbines at its Glasgow headquarters. They can deliver up to 30kW of electricity, more than enough for the night-time load, and enough for 60 to 70% of the day-time load. The company had to overcome concerns from the local authority about possible interference with radar serving Glasgow Airport a few miles away. Other energy-saving initiatives include installating air-conditioning condensing units in the warehouse to provide free heating. Common spaces such as toilets and corridors have movement sensors to turn off lights. The call centre has movement sensors over desks to turn off local lights in the evening.
