Kershaw services major secondary school project

Kershaw, Kershaw Mechanical Services

Kershaw Mechanical Services is working on an M&E contract for Beal High School in Redbridge which will result in the largest school in London, at 2500 pupils. The school is heavily over-subscribed, and this £16.9 million project will cater for a further 640 pupils in a 3-storey building and sixth-form centre. Facilities will include a learning resource centre, assembly hall and sports halls. The interior design will reflect the school’s specialism of media arts.

A key feature of the work by Kershaw is the Breathing Building natural-ventilation system. Other work includes rainwater harvesting, solarPV, underfloor heating and a CHP plant. The intention is to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Kershaw is working with Morgan Sindall on the project.
