Daily Mail enjoys upgraded controls

Comfort Controls has replaced the 15-year-old controls system in the head office of the Daily Mail & General Trust.

Comfort Controls has completely upgraded the building-management system of the head office of the Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) using Schneider’s Continuum BMS. The project at Northcliffe House replaced a 15-year-old HVAC-only system and works over DMGT’s corporate IP network.

The new system can communicate with the various H&V and security systems through structured interfaces, enabling space temperature requirements to be carefully met — avoiding wasted energy.

The facilities team monitors and controls the building’s environmental requirements via six PC-based workstations.

The capabilities of the system include monitoring meter readings (including gas, electricity and water), as well as UPS, generators and areas such as computer/server rooms. The savings being achieved can be quantified and areas for improvement identified. The number of service contracts for the building has been reduced.

Other improvements include inverter drives on all AHU fans and pumps.

Comfort Controls provides regular ongoing maintenance of the entire BMS to ensure optimum operation of plant.
