Ellis supplies cable cleats for huge project in Mecca

Ellis Patents, cable cleats

Emperor cable cleats from Ellis have been specified for one of the biggest current construction projects in Saudi Arabia. The Shamiya Haram is part of the holy mosque in Mecca and is undergoing the biggest expansion in its history to place it in a central location and give it a new architectural dimension that will quadruple is capacity to 2.25 million worshippers. The Haram will have an area of over 1.4 million square metres.

The cleats are made of 316L stainless steel for maximum resistance to corrosion and will be used to secure power cables throughout the 75 000 m2 central utility complex that will serve the Haram.

The central utility complex will have 24 chillers, with a first-phase cooling capacity of 42 MW, 66 MVA generator plant (first phase), grey-water treatment plant, water tanks and pump room.

The patented design of Emperor cleats makes installation quick and easy. An integral LSF zero-halogen polymeric liner and base pad protects and cushions cables during short-circuit conditions.
