Ellis secures cable-cleat order for major airport

Ellis Patents, cable cleat

Ellis has secured a major specification for its Emperor cable cleats to be installed in the King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Saudi Arabia. The order was secured through the company’s Saudi distributor Mena Arabia of Riyadh. Installation of the products is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2015, and the airport is expected to open at the end of 2015.

The new airport will have a 670 000 passenger terminal complex with the capacity for 80 million passengers a year, over six times more than the current airport.

Designed for use where the highest levels of short-circuit withstand are required, the Emperor cable cleats were specified by Inma Contracting of Jeddah and are being installed in sub-stations and utility service tunnels throughout the airport.

Tony Conroy, export director for Ellis, said, ‘KAIA is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the world today. Securing such significant involvement in it is a resounding endorsement of our strategy of appointing local distributors in key export markets.’
