Mansfield Pollard responds to Somerset House challenge

Mansfield Pollard, kitchen ventilation

Mansfield Pollard, which specialises in commercial kitchen ventilation, has designed and installed a bespoke extraction system in the new kitchen at Somerset House. The company was approached by Western Blueprint to work on the project.

The restricted size of the kitchen required an innovative design as there was a substantial amount of air to move through a limited amount of space. The installation comprises four kitchen canopies, the largest of which is a 10 m L-shaped wall-mounted unit.

Fire-rated ductwork was installed to serve each canopy, handling a total air volume of 5.6 m3/h. There is also a bespoke sound-attenuation system and high-level grease/odour-reduction technology to meet the stringent planning conditions.

Scott Donoghue, kitchen ventilation manager at Mansfield Pollard, said, ‘The brief for Somerset House was incredibly challenging and enabled us to demonstrate our ability to provide a complete packaged solution.

‘Our reputation has been built on the successful delivery of complex projects, and we are delighted that Western Blueprint was impressed with our team.’
