Pipe Center delivers prefabrication solution for London development

Pipe Center, prefabrication, bespoke utility cupboard

Pipe Center’s prefabrication facility at Basildon is working with Vier Construction to design and build 360 bespoke utility cupboards for homes in the Elephant & Castle regeneration project in London. As part of the wider project, facilities-services company Vier Construction was appointed by Lendlease for the delivery of M&E and public-health services in the first phase of Elephant Park, known as South Gardens, which will deliver 360 new homes by 2017.

These utility cupboards comprise a heat interface unit to the district heating system for hot water, heat-recovery unit, underfloor-heating manifold, domestic hot- and cold-water manifolds and washing-machine outlets.

A prototype was sent to Kings Cross, where Vier Construction has assembled a compressed replica apartment under an old railway arch as a testing ground for the wider project.
