Air-cooled chillers achieve high efficiency at part load

Daikin Europe

Daikin Europe has introduced two EWAD air-cooled inverter-controlled chillers with high EERs at full and partial loads. They have cooling capacities from 330 to 515 kW and have two independent R134a refrigerant coils that provide continuous operation during maintenance periods.

These chillers are available in standard (S versions) and high seasonal (X versions) efficiencies, and well as reduced- and low-noise options. ESEER is up to 5.01 for the X versions.

Inverter control regulates start-up current so that it does not exceed the current at maximum operating conditions, avoiding the need for larger electrical systems just for start up. Inverter control also achieves a power factor of at least 0.95 at all operating conditions.

Attention has also been paid to sound levels at part load. A combination of variable fan speed and compressor frequency combined with structural vibrational damping contribute to achieving low noise levels.
