Oventrop takes control in retirement village

Oventrop, regulating valves, DHW
Control of heating and DHW circuits in the Oscott Retirement Village at Erdington in Birmingham is provided by Oventrop valves.

The task of commissioning the domestic-hot-water system in a new retirement village in Birmingham has been simplified using Oventrop multi-function DHW secondary-circulation regulating valves. Oventrop regulating valves have also been used in the heating systems for this development of 120 apartments of one and two bedrooms, which includes health-and-leisure facilities such as a gymnasium, restaurant, craft centre, shops, hair salon, bar and laundrette. There is also an IT suite and garden with a greenhouse.

Mechanical-services contractor Regal Building Services chose Oventrop valves following experience with them on past projects.

To balance DHW, each apartment is fitted with an Aquastrom T Plus multi-function regulating valve on the DHW return leg. The valves control temperature and flow in the system and provide significant energy savings by eliminating cold deadlegs and the risk of legionella bacteria growth. They are factory preset to simplify commissioning.

Five gas-fired condensing boilers serve LST radiators in the apartments and ceiling units in the common areas. Each lounge radiator is controlled by a roomstat that can turn heating on/off as required.
