Danfoss’s balancing act

Danfoss, DPC, Commissioning

Danfoss ASV automatic balancing valves have been installed in five social-housing tower blocks in south-east London to overcome problems of unevenly distributed heating from central boiler plant. They were installed with minimum inconvenience to tenants.

ASV valves consist of two components — a differential-pressure controller to maintain constant differential pressure across the riser and its partner valve mounted in the supply line. They are installed on each floor.

Danfoss bypass valves at the tops of riser provide the basis for achieving proper hydronic balancing.

Once the risers had been balanced, Danfoss TRVs with a pre-set function ensured that each radiator received the right amount of heated water to maintain the desired room temperature.
