Aimteq has completed installation of a Schneider BMS at a new £10.8 million defence logistics centre for BAE systems. The project provides control of functions such as domestic hot water, radiant heating and the site’s cold store for carbon fibre material.

The building is 165,000 sq ft, adjacent to the company’s engineering and manufacturing facility in Lancashire. It accommodates a 150-strong workforce.

The control system will monitor, measure and optimise building performance throughout its lifecycle. The interface has been custom-branded for BAE Systems. BMS functionality at the site primarily relates to HVAC control and monitoring both in the warehouse and single-storey office area. Two panels were built by Aimteq for the offices and warehouses, using Schneider SmartX AS-P controllers and I/O modules.

Jon Farmer, energy management lead at BAE Systems, says: “I’ve been really impressed by Aimteq’s project management and communication throughout. They have bent over backwards to ensure smooth project delivery. Furthermore, they are very dedicated and have come back to the site to resolve a few very minor snags.”
