Hoval boilers achieve the maximum BREEAM rating

Extensive, indepedent testing of Hoval UltraGas boilers has confirmed that their average NOx emissions are less than 40 mg/kWh. This means that these boilers, across the full range of outputs from 15 to 1440 kW, achieve the full maximum BREEAM rating of three points for NOx emissions. These tests were carried out to DIN EN 676 by GasWarme Institut across a range of outputs and supersede earlier tests carried out at high fire, which did not represent average emissions during use. When tested to the requirements of the European Boiler Efficiency Directive, net efficiencies of up to 109.5% are achieved, with carbon-monoxide emissions of 10 mg/kWh. Such high efficiencies are achieved using a modulating pre-mix down-firing burner with up to 5:1 turndown — 12:1 on twin units — and a stainless-steel combustion chamber with a single-pass aluFer tube heat exchanger. The aluFer tubes are also of stainless steel (in contact with the boiler waterside) with an alloy-alloy fined internal surface to provide a high surface area for heat transfer.
