Balfour Kilpatrick wins court project in Wales

Designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating is a new court building at Caernarfon Criminal Justice Centre.
Balfour Kilpatrick has been awarded a £3 million contract to design, supply and install services for a new court building at Caernarfon Criminal Justice Court. This new court building is one of a series being procured under the private developer scheme initiative. The 4000 m2 building will include a magistrates’ court, two Crown courts and one youth court. There will also be a Welsh language unit. The property has been forward sold to London & Capital. Features of the building include rainwater harvesting, low-NOx condensing boilers, natural ventilation and lighting control systems using occupancy sensing and daylight availability. The building will achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.
